Terms of Service
The short version
- SafeHome gives you a personalised emergency preparedness plan, written with the help of AI from the answers you provide.
- It's general preparedness information, not professional advice. In an emergency, always follow instructions from 911 and local authorities.
- If your plan never arrives or we can't fix a problem with it, you get a full refund. If you're unhappy for any reason, ask within 30 days of purchase for a refund.
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you buy or use a SafeHome plan or use this website. By completing a purchase, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
You must be 18 or older to buy a plan. We currently serve addresses in every Canadian province and territory except Québec.
2. What you get
After you pay and complete the questionnaire, we email you a personalised emergency preparedness plan as a PDF, along with the extras included in the plan you chose (such as a wallet emergency card). What each plan includes is listed on our pricing section.
Your plan is generated automatically. We use an AI writing service and public data sources to tailor it to your address, home and household. No person reviews your plan before it's sent.
Your plan is based on the information you give us. Please check your answers carefully. If something you told us was wrong or changes later, the plan won't reflect it.
3. Not professional advice
Your plan is general preparedness information, not professional advice. It isn't medical, legal, insurance, engineering, or emergency-management advice, and it doesn't replace instructions from emergency services or government authorities.
In an emergency, call 911 and follow directions from police, fire, paramedics, and your local or provincial emergency management agency, even if they differ from your plan.
We work to make every plan accurate and useful, but we can't guarantee it's complete, current, or error-free. In particular:
- Local details change. Hospital, shelter, and service locations, phone numbers, and hours can change after your plan is created. Confirm important details yourself and keep your plan up to date.
- Hazards are estimates. The hazards in your plan are ranked from general information about your area. An emergency can come from a hazard your plan doesn't list.
- Medical needs. Guidance about medications, medical equipment, or health conditions is general. Talk to your doctor, pharmacist, or equipment supplier about your own situation.
- Insurance. Your plan doesn't tell you what your insurance policy covers. Check with your insurer or broker.
- AI can make mistakes. Parts of your plan are written by AI and may occasionally contain errors. If you spot one, tell us and we'll fix it.
4. Payment
Prices are shown in Canadian dollars and are one-time charges. Payments are processed by Stripe. Bulk and agent orders may have their own pricing, which we'll confirm with you before you pay.
5. Refunds
- Your plan doesn't arrive. If you paid and completed the questionnaire but haven't received your plan within 24 hours (check your spam folder), email us. We'll resend it or refund you in full.
- Something's wrong with your plan. If your plan has an error or is missing something it should include, tell us and we'll correct and resend it. If we can't fix it, we'll refund you in full.
- You're not satisfied. If you're unhappy with your plan for any other reason, email us within 30 days of purchase and we'll refund you in full.
To request a refund, email hello@safehomeplan.ca with the email address you used to order. Refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days. Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under your province's consumer protection laws.
6. Using your plan
Your plan is for your own household (or, for agent and landlord orders, the property and occupants it was ordered for). You're welcome to print it, copy it, and share it with the people it covers. Please don't resell it or reuse SafeHome's content to build a competing product.
You're responsible for the information you give us, including having permission to include other people's details, as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Limits of our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, SafeHome isn't responsible for loss, injury, or damage that results from relying on your plan, from events your plan doesn't cover, or from information that has changed since your plan was created. If we are found responsible for something, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the plan in question.
Some provinces don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you in full.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date. The terms in place when you made your purchase apply to that purchase.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without taking away any protection you have under the consumer protection laws of the province where you live.
